On Monday, Union Minister Smriti Irani has alleged the opposition Congress of trying to malign the nation’s defence establishment and said that “lies” of the Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi on Rafale fighter jets deal have been exposed.
Congress tries to play with the national security of the country and tried to spread lies to mislead the people, said Ms. Irani.
She continued, “The Congress has not only spread lies but has also tried to malign the Indian Air Force and the defence establishment. The Congress has tried to stand in the way of strengthening our forces.”
Ms. Irani further said that “the lies of Congress and its party president Rahul Gandhi has been exposed. Rahul Gandhi should reveal his source of information.”
On Friday, Supreme court has rejected the plea challenging the deal between France and India for procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets saying that there was no occasion to “really doubt the decision making the process” warranting setting aside of the contract.
Repeatedly Congress has criticized the deal for the 36 Rafale fighter jets, alleging that the government was purchasing each aircraft at a cost of Rs. 1670 crore as against Rs. 526 crore, which was finalized by the UPA government.
However, the BJP government has denied any irregularities in the deal.
