Odisha Lawmaker alleged of not offering Rs. 1850 LPG subsidy for poor - TNBCLive

On Wednesday, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan mocks at an Odisha Minister for not forgoing subsidy on LPG for the sake of the welfare of poor and said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet colleague SN Patro has received Rs. 1850 subsidy, this year under the cooking gas scheme.

Mr. Pradhan has revealed that Odisha Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister SN Patro while he was addressing an event in Bhubaneswar, which was organized by BJP.

He continued that “Naveen Patnaik’s Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister S N Patro has received Rs.1850 as subsidy meant for poor consumers in 2018.”

Mr. Pradhan said that he was not aware of the matter and has alleged the Union Petroleum Minister of having “vindictive” attitude towards him.

Mr. Patro told the source that “I am not aware of the allegations made by Pradhan. The delivery man comes and gives cooking gas at my house. I do not know when the subsidy money is deposited in my account. Why should I take subsidy on gas?”

He further said that “this is the vindictive attitude of Pradhan as my department along with vigilance had raided on the gas agency owned by Union Minister’s brother. His brother was booked in a case for black marketing. His brother was in bail from High Court.”

Earlier in the month, both Mr. Pradhan and Mr. Patro were engaged in a war of words over the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Mr. Patrol has accused that the Ujjwala Yojana has miserably failed in Odisha as poor people were unable to go for refilling due to high-cost of LPG. However, Mr. Pradhan had rejected all the allegations.
