Working on a directive of the ECI (Election Commission of India), a demonstration-cum-mock election on the functioning of EVM-VVPAT was arranged yesterday in the premises of the Odisha High Court.

The practice was conducted before Chief Justice of Odisha High Court, Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri, and other Puisne Judges of High Court.

During the demonstration of EVM, Chief electoral Officer Surendra Kumar, Odisha made a detailed presentation on EVM-VVPAT and informed the judges that VVPAT will be used for the first time in the upcoming simultaneous General Elections in Odisha.

Odisha High Court’s Chief Justice and all other judges also took part in a mock poll and were fully satisfied with the EVM demonstration.

Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha has informed the judges about the Voter Helpline application, which were initiated by ECI, whereby any voter can easily verify their names in the electoral roll. The Voter Helpline application is also made available for download on Google Play Store.  

The Odisha High court judges were further informed that the application for correction or inclusion can be made currently that is the period of continuous updates of electoral polls.
