Union Budget 2019-20 has allocated Rs. 5993 crores for railway department of Odisha, noted an increase of Rs. 741 crore from last year’s outlay, said a railway official.
It is reported the highest ever railway allotment to Odisha. The interim budget has offered Rs. 5940 crore and 2018 budget have provided Rs.5252 crore to Odisha, said an East Coast Railway (ECoR) spokesman.
The fund was allocated for several projects, track renewal and repairs, passenger amenities, road under bridges, road over bridges, staff amenities, and electrification, he said.
Several new railway projects have been sanctioned from Odisha in the budget 2019-20, informed that the passenger amenities have received an allocation of Rs. 180 crore.
Rs. 1400 crore has also been allocated for several new railway lines, said the spokesman that Rs. 250 crore has been offered for 98.7 kilometers Angul-Sukinda Road, while Rs. 400 crore is reserved for 82 kilometers Haridaspur-Paradeep line.
Funds were also allocated for the Talcher-Bimlagarh line, Jeypore-Malkangiri line, Khurda Road-Bolangir line, and Jeypore-Nabarangpur line, he added.
Grants have been declared for doubling around a dozen lines – Koraput-Singapur Road, Sambalpur-Talcher, and Budapank-Salegaon, said the spokesman.
