On Tuesday, a passenger of an IndiGo flight was caught red-handed smoking inside the toilet by the cabin crew. A strong odor of cigarette smoke came from the toilet on board IndiGo flight 6E-947, which was going to Goa from Ahmedabad on December 25, following the incident the cabin crew interrogated the man.
Under India’s Air Safety Rules, smoking inside onboard flights is not permitted in domestic flights.
Immediately, the cabin crew alerted the flight captain and reminded the passengers about the policy, which bans smoking in flights.
After the IndiGo flight landed at Goa, the issue was brought to notice of the local Goa Police Station. An FIR was lodged against the accused passenger, who after landing was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force.
Last week, a Vistara flight was delayed by more than 3-hours in Delhi after a passenger insisted that he wanted to smoke inside the flight.
