Lok Sabha passes 2 Bills amid protest by TDP and Congress - TNBCLive

On Thursday, the Lok Sabha has managed to pass two bills before it adjourns for the day, which amid protest by opposition parties- TDP and Congress on various issues.

Amid the protest, the two bills passed were- National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, 2018 Consumer Protection Bill, Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, and 2018 Multiple Disabilities (Amendment) Bill.

Earlier the proceedings to pass the bills were adjourned amid quarrel between members from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the issue of the proposal to build a dam on River Cauvery.

While the Congress members demand a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) investigation into the Rafale fighter jets deal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu raised the well holding placards over the dam construction issue.

Meanwhile, TDP leaders demanded special category status from Andhra Pradesh and also the development of  Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, when the Rajya Sabha met for the day, the proceeding lasted for around 10 minutes, with Ms. Mahajan has adjourned the House till noon.

Yesterday, was the 7th working day of this year’s winter session that saw disruptions and adjournments over the Rafale fighter jets deal, special status for TDP in Andhra Pradesh, and protest over the construction of dam on the River Cauvery.

On December 11, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha had been adjourned on the very first day after paying obituary references to ex-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and some sitting members in both the houses.

Since December 12, proceedings in both the Houses have been marred amid the day.
