On Thursday, it was informed by a police officer, that three people were injured and one person died during the security forces’ action on protesters in Handwara area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

After the first phase of the parliamentary election came to an end, protesters broke out in Mandignam area of Handwara in the north Kashmir district, the police official added.

He further claimed that when the polling staff was returning back from election duty, the protesters were throwing stones at him. When the security forces accompanying the election staff used force on the protesters and four persons were injured in the action.

The four protesters who got injured during the action were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital but one of them could not survive, the official stated.

He said not only in one place, but several stone-throwing incidents were also reported from different places immediately after the polling ended. During the fiction some security forces’ personnel and polling staff were also injured, he said.
