On Thursday, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Raghuvar Rai was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Samastipur district of Bihar, said Police.

Mr. Rai was shot dead directly by two men on a motorcycle, when he was out on morning walk near his residence in Kalyanpur, said District Superintendent of Police Harpareet Kaur.

Raghuvar Rai was an active Zila Parishad member.

Angry over killing him, hundreds of his supporters had blocked the Samastipur-Darbganga road to show protest and burned tyres with the demand of arrest of the convicts. Investigation about the case is underway.
