Home Ministry Issues New Guidelines for Unlock 2.0, Eases Restrictions - TNBCLive

The Home Ministry has issued new guidelines in a document called  “Unlock  2 guidelines.” After unlock 1, the central government decides to open up more activities in areas outside the Containment Zones. The nationwide lockdown due to the wake of the coronavirus froze the life of many people and so the government has decided to re-open the activities.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India must be self-dependable. 

The detailed guidelines said domestic flights and passenger trains have already been allowed in a limited manner. “Their operations will be further expanded in a calibrated manner,” it said. The new guidelines will come into effect from today. 

All the domestic flights and international flights from March 23 were suspended in the wake of COVID-19. Revising the guidelines, the Centre allowed some special flights facilitating domestic air travel for stranded persons in India. Today India reported the highest number of fatalities since the pandemic started, that is 507. In the last  24 hours, a total of 18,653 cases were reported taking the total number of infections to 5, 85493 and total fatalities at 17,400.

As per the new guidelines, schools, colleges, and educational institutions will remain closed till July 31. Recently, the government has not allowed the reopening of metro rail as well.

Cinema halls, gyms, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will remain closed. Any kind of large gatherings, like – political, sports, entertainment, academic, religious functions will not be allowed. 

The government has encouraged online and distance learning for educational sectors. The centre emphasized on work from home if possible for.  No movement will be allowed from 10 pm to 5 am except for those in essential services.

People above 65, those who co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below 10 advised staying home. The offices that have already opened were advised to make the proper arrangements of thermal screening, hand-washing and sanitizers. Most importantly, the social distance must be maintained.
