On Monday, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said that holding elections as per schedule in Jammu and Kashmir will be a test for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr. Abdullah wrote on his Twitter handle, “Will the Modi government bow before those forces of separatism & terror that have always sought to disrupt/delay polls in J&K or will polls take place on schedule? The moment of truth for PM Modi’s handling of Kashmir over the last 5 years.”

The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has reacted to media reports, the EC (Election Commission) of India will take calls on holding Assembly Elections together with 2019 Lok Sabha Elections after this week’s visit to the state.

He continued that except for an odd by-poll, all elections in J&K have been conducted as per schedule since 1995-96.

“Will PM Modi be able to keep to this schedule or will he accept he’s totally mishandled J&K? The next few days will give us the answer,” added Mr. Abdullah.
