New Delhi March 23- India’s leading FMCG brand ITC and another renowned construction company GMR have expressed their desire to adopt the Taj Mahal, the iconic historic monument. The adoption process will be under Adopt a Heritage scheme of the Government. This scheme enables a private or a public sector company to maintain a heritage site properly. The companies are generally asked to pay 2 percent of their Corporate Social Responsibility budget for the maintenance of the heritage sites. Both of the companies have confirmed that they have submitted applications to maintain the Taj Mahal and were ready to pay 2 percent of their CSR budget to make it neat and clean. The Chairperson of ASSOCHAM Subhas Goyal has praised the companies for their benevolent activities and wished them best of luck.
