BSP Supremo Mayawati’s former secretary was raised by Income Tax (IT) officials over suspected tax evasions worth Rs. 100 crores.
A retired IAS Officer, Netram was reported to be extremely close to the BSP Chief during her regime as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister between the year 2007 and 2012.
IT officer told sources that “Netram has amassed wealth and evaded tax worth hundreds of crores, raids are being conducted to unearth the alleged tax evasion. The raids started in the morning and expected to go on till late in the evening.”
Earlier in the month of January, BSP icons with the giant status of elephants were built during Mayawati’s tenure in Uttar Pradesh, presently came under the scrutiny of the Enforcement Directorate. ED had raised half a dozen places in Lucknow.
The raids came few days after the CBI has launched an investigation into the role of Akhilesh Yadav, an alliance partner of Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, accused in an illegal mining case.
Both the leaders, both ex-Chief Ministers have alleged the centre-ruling BJP of using probe agencies to target political opponents and also punish the opposition ‘alliance’ or ‘gathbandhan’.
Mayawati said, “Petty politics and political conspiracy are not new for the BJP. The people of the country have understood it and they will teach the BJP a lesson in the Lok Sabha polls.”
