Early morning today, an encounter broke out in south Kashmir’s Shopian district after an intelligence tip-off, security forces have introduced a pre-dawn anti-terror operation in the area.

The joint operation is carried out by army and police personnel in Heff Sheermal village, where armed terrorist are present.

As the security force cordon and launched an offensive search, the terrorist first opened fire, which later on leads to a major gunfight in the village. Three to four terrorists are still likely to hide in the wooded area, claims officials sources.


Jammu and Kashmir’ Police Chief Dilbag Singh informed that the operation was early planned by the police based on specific data about their hideout in the orchards of Sheermal.  

This is reportedly the second encounter in Kashmir Valley within last 24-hours. On Monday, three terrorists of Al-Badr outfit were shot dead after a day-long operation at Hapatnar area in Budgam district, they were residents of Shopian district.
