Over 30 houses have been damaged by an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurex border area yesterday. However, no casualties have been reported yet, said an official.

An official of the Disaster Management Department said that “a snow avalanche hit village Khandiyal in Gurez last night (Thursday).

While around 22 houses were damaged completely, eight were damaged partially by avalanche, which hits Khandiyal village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday evening, added the officials.

On regular basis, authorities have been issuing avalanche warnings for vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir, which has witnessed heavy snowfall in this winter.
