On Thursday, a senior Congress leader Digyijaya Singh enquired why the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) was hostile to him, though he is a Hindu.
Mr. Singh is contesting in the April-May Election from Bhopal, claims he was a disciple of Shankaracharya but didn’t show off his faith.
When asked why centre-ruling BJP dubs him as anti-Hindu and anti-RSS person, Mr. Singh replied: “I have no dispute with the RSS. If the RSS is an organization of Hindus, Digvijaya Singh too is a Hindu. Then why this hostility.”
He continued, “I am an anointed disciple of Dwarka and Jyotish Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati since 1983.”
“Neither I tom-tom my faith from the rooftop nor do I exploit it during elections,” added the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister.
Mr. Singh claims, “Politics divides, it divides even families. Therefore religion should not be connected to politics.”
To a query on BJP’s slogan of “Congress-Mukt Bharat”, the senior Congress leader said that “this was the mindset of Hitler…this mean no opposition. We are fighting this mindset.”
Mr. Singh further accused PM Modi of not fulfilling his promise to offer 2 crore jobs, but after demonetization 27000 jobs were lost every day.
