On Monday, CPI leader PP Sunner said that the decision of Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi to contest from Kerela’s Wayanad seat in April-May National Elections will ‘help the BJP’.
However, Mr. Sunner claims that the only contest in the region is between the United Democratic Front and the Left Democratic Front.
He told sources that “they have taken this decision to weaken our national secular democratic movements. This decision of Rahul will not help the Congress. Instead, it will help the BJP.”
When asked about Thushar Vellapally, who is contesting in BJP ticket from Wayanad, the CPI leader said, “That is not a serious issue. The direct fight is between UDF and LDF.”
On Sunday, the grand old party has announced that Rahul Gandhi will contest from Kerela’s Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency along with the traditional seat in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi to further strengthen the unity between South and North.
Kerala will go to election on April 23 and the results will be declared on May 23.
