“Can’t Crucify An Innocent”: Congregation Backing For Rape Accused Priest

Thiruvananthapuram: In a rape case of the nun in Kerala, where a priest from Jalandhar was the accused. The Priest has found support from Missionaries of Jesus. It is said that the Bishop has denied all the allegations. The incident comes in a light when the group of nuns have been protesting in consensus with a nun, who has alleged that she was sexually abused 13 times between 2014-2016 by Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal.

A statement mentions that “ Calling the Roman Catholic priest an “innocent” the congregation has condemned the protest by five nuns, who took to streets in Ernakulam in support of the rape survivor. It also added “ We do not want to crucify an innocent based on the sexual abuse allegation raised by one of our sisters, followed by the false allegations made the sisters who are protesting along with her”

The group of the congregation asked questioned the allegations against the priest. It said in support of priest that “the nun has invited the Bishop for a family function. The nun even helped and co-ordinated his programmes across Kerala till 2016… Even a small child will know that this is not possible of a persona has been forcefully violated.”

However, the case petition is under the Kerala High Court and the court asked the police to find more details over the issue. Over this issue, the court will go for further hearing on September 13.
