RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav was recently punished life sentence by a court in Patna, accused of rape of a minor girl. He has been disqualified from the Bihar Assembly, which was issued to him on Wednesday with a notice.
As per the notice, which was issued by Visha Sabha Secretariat, Mr. Yadav has been disqualified with the effect from December 15, the same date on which he was found guilty by the Special Court in Patna for MPs, MLAs, and MLCs.
Five others, including for women were also punished the same in the 2-years-old rape case.
With the disqualification of Mr. Yadav, who was suspended by RJD in February 2016, shortly after he was found guilty in the case. Therefore, the total number of RJD’s MLA has come down to 79, from 80.
Raj Ballabh Yadav represented Nawada in the state Assembly and he is the second RJD lawmaker to have been disqualified in recent times.
Last month, Dehri MLA Mohd Ilyas Hussain had also lost his membership on account of the found convict in a corruption case by CBI Court in Ranchi.
RJS had won 80-seats in 2015 Assembly Elections and has improved its tally in May 2018, when it fights with Jokihat seat from the JD(U).
