Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has been suffering from some time over a pancreatic condition, inspected a half-constructional work on a bridge on River Mandovi on Sunday, seen in his first public appearance since he has spent months in Delhi’s AIMIM hospital. CM Parrikar saw with a tube in his nose and was walking during inspection with support.
CM Parrikar also inspected constructional work of another bridge, situated near Panjim over River Zuari.
63-years-old Goa Manohar Parrikar has recovered from a surgery at his home in Goa, since October 14 and this is for the first time he has moved out of the house, reports an official.
A senior official of CM’s office said that CM Parrikar has traveled nearly 6 km from Porvorim to Merces to inspect the constructional work of the bridge, the third over the River Mandovi.
This bridge is likely to complete by next year, which will connect Panaji to North Goa.
CM Parrikar comes out of his car at the site to discuss the progress of the work with officials of Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation and contracting form Larsen & Toubro, reports the functionary. Two of his doctors’ were accompanying him at the site.
The pictures of the drawn, visibly unwell Chief Minister drew criticism although officials reports that he wanted to visit the site as the Goa bridge was his personal project.
Ex-Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah tweeted, “He has a tube inserted through his nose into his digestive tract. How inhumane to force him to continue working & doing photo ops. Why can’t he be allowed to deal with his illness without all this pressure & tamasha?”
A day before, CM Parrikar had tweeted a picture after introducing a campus for the Goa’s National Institute of Technology. May tweeted their wishes for his to “get well soon” messages for the Goa Chief Minister, who look quite weak in the photo.
CM Parrikar has been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, New York, and Delhi for almost nine months.
The state-opposition Congress has been accusing the CM Parrikar’s health condition and irregularities from office and disabled the coastal state’s administration. Even allies and some members of state-ruling BJP have raised questions as well.
A politician has also appealed the Court asked for an assessment of Manohar Parrikar’s condition.
A Congress leader Priyanka Chaturvedi tweets, “Is that a tube that is inserted in his nose? Can a party be so power hungry to make a man work despite his illness? With BJP impossible is nothing….to grab power, latch on to power. Take care CM Saab, because clearly, your party won’t.”
