Today, CBI Officer AK Bassi has approached the Supreme Court, challenges his transfer order to Port Blair. He was investigating officer in an accused corruption case against the former CBI deputy chief Rakesh Asthana, said that he is being “victimized by the present CBI director M Nageswara Rao.”

Mr. Bassi accused Mr. Rao of representing several issues within the CBI, who is not allowing him to conduct a free and fair probe in the Asthana FIR. He continued that it was Mr. Rao, who on October 24, 2018, has passed the order to transfer him to Port Blair.

In the petition, Mr. Bassi has challenged the transfer order that was issued on January 11, claims that it violated the orders issued by the Top Court in its judgment on the plea of ex-CBI Director Alok Verma.

Mr. Bassi further accused that the transfer order was the first initiative to implicate him either in a false criminal offense or in departmental proceedings for performing his duties in a fair and impartial manner into the FIR lodged against Mr. Asthana. Mr. Bassi also claims that it was not a routine case of transfer.

On January 8, the Supreme Court had ordered the CBI officers including AK Bassi to approach an exact forum where they should consider the matter.
