Manipur Police department allegedly seized 20kg of Ganja from IndiGo’s cargo warehouse at Imphal Airport on Tuesday, as per the report of an official release.

In a statement, the budget carrier IndiGo has confirmed the development and said that its staff members have ‘suspected’ contraband items in a cargo warehouse and immediately informed the concerned authorities about it.

The banned cannabis was discovered “concealed” among vegetables in a warehouse and recovered by the sleuths of Manipur Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), said the release.

It continued that “On receiving information, a team of NAB seized 20 kg of contraband ganja on January 22 which were found concealed among vegetable baggage from inside the air cargo warehouse of IndiGo at Imphal Airport.”

In the statement, the Airline spokesman said that “IndiGo confirms that during a cargo screening process at the Imphal airport this morning, our staff suspected contraband items in a cargo consignment.”

A case has been filed and investigation underway said the official release.
