Eleven trekkers, including five trekkers from Delhi, have been rescued from Uttarakhand’s Munsiyari after they got stranded for 2-days due to heavy snowfall in the area, reports ITBP officials on Wednesday.
They report that a group of five trekkers and porters each along with a guide were rescued by the troops of the 14th battalion of ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) from Pithoragarh district of Munsiyari, after they got struck there on December 24.
A senior official said that “the group lost contact due to snowfall in Khaliya Top area in Bhainstal region of Munsiyari. They are in good health and were brought to Munsiyari this afternoon and were further sent off to their destinations.”
He continued that the identities of the eleven trekkers are yet to be declared.
Munsiyari is located at an altitude of 7200 feet.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police officials are posted in Himachal Pradesh as a part of their mandate to guard the India-Tibet Border.
