Praised Congress National Chief Rahul Gandhi decision to contest from Kerala’s Wayanad, head priest CS Rangarajan of Chilkur Balaji Temple in Hyderabad said that he was eager to know the opinion of Mr. Gandhi over Supreme Court’s Verdict to allow women entry into Sabarimala Temple.

CM Rangarajan asked, “We will welcome Rahul Gandhi to south India as he is contesting from Wayanad, Kerala. On behalf of the Hindu priest community, we have a few questions for him as he is showing a lot of interest in the temple system. On the issue of Sabarimala temple, the Supreme Court gave judgment. So, are you supporting the judgment or do you have a different approach?”

The head priest continued, “On the issue of sexual harassment of girls in Pollachi, DMK leader Viramani made a comment which hurt the Hindu sentiments. As you have aligned with the DMK party in Tamil Nadu, are you going to support him or are you going to make him apologize for his statement?”

In Kerala, the Sabarimala temple and surrounding areas have already witnessed a strong protest since October 2018 over the decision of the top court to reject restrictions on the women entry aged between 10-50-years.

Nearly four months after the Supreme Court had permitted women of all ages to enter Sabarimala temple on September 2018, two women aged below 50-years has entered the Lord Ayyappa Shrine to offer prayers.

Violation protests broke out across the state, while the process of purification also took place in the temple following the entry of these two women, named Kanaka Durga and Bindu Ammini.
