Today, Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur and Shimla had immense snowfall, hailstorms, and rain and so all schools and colleges will remain closed. The upper area of the state has witnessed today a fresh snowfall while the lower areas of the hills had rainfall which led to a drop in the minimum temperature by a few notches.
To ensure the safety of the students the district administration has taken the decision.
In Kinnaur, there has been a heavy rainfall which has caused a flash flood-like situation and all educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow as well, told the sources.
However, the weather department deepening the tension has forecasted more snowfall in Shimla high and mid hills and heavy rainfall in low hills and plain areas of the state till February 28.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the rain will continue for the next 12 hours and more snowslide and glacier melting will take place in parts of Himachal Pradesh.
For the past 24 hours, the snowfall is happening in the higher areas while heavy rainfall is happening in the lower areas in Himachal. higher reaches in Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, and Chamba districts have received fresh snowfall in the past 24 hours and the lower areas like Kullu, Kinnaur, Mandi, Shimla, and Bilaspur districts have received heavy rainfall.
