On Friday, the Gujarat High Court has invalidated the election of BJP MLA Pabubha Manek from Dwarka, accused of submitting a defective nomination form.
In 2017 Election, Mr. Manek’s win from the Dwarka Assembly Constituency was challenged in the High Court by the opponent and mainly by Congress candidate Meraman Ahir.
In the petition, Mr. Ahir claims that Mr. Manek’s election should be set aside as he had submitted a defective nomination form.
Admitting the dispute raised by the Congress candidate, Justice Paresh Upadhyay has canceled the election held for Dwarka seat in December 2017.
Therefore, Mr. Ahir has declared himself as a winner, the court didn’t accept that prayer and ordered for the cancellation of the polls.
In the petition, he also claims that Mr. Manek has forgotten to write his constituency name in the form, a lapse that calls for the cancellation of the election.
