The Gujarat Forest Department has captured a furious Leopard after it reportedly attacked and took lives of two people in Chhotaudepur district, died of severe injuries at a rescue centre, reports an official, on Wednesday.

The Leopard was believed to have attacked four innocents in separate incidents within 2-days, took two lives including a toddler.

On Monday, the Leopard was captured in Pavijetpur Taluka at Bandi, informed a Deputy Conservator of Forest, Nilesh Pandya.

After it was tranquilized, the Leopard was shifted to the Pavagadh Rescue Centre.

Mr. Pandya continued, “The leopard already had an injury on its leg. It died a day after its capture.”

“If no attack takes place in that area now, it will be established that it was the same leopard which had attacked humans. If attacks continue, we have to plan accordingly,” added Mr. Pandya.

On January 4, a 50-years-old farmer named Balu Rathwa was working in his cotton field in Vavdi village of Pavijetpur, was suddenly attacked and killed by a Leopard.

On January 6, there more people were attacked in the nearby areas, reports the Deputy Conservator of Forest.

Mr. Pandya further said that “While a two and a half years old boy died of injuries, an 8-year-old girl was critically injured. On the same day, another local was also attacked. However, he received minor injuries.”
