The Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena, a team floated by Congress leader Alpesh Thakor, has decided to serve its tie with Congress and asked Mr. Thakor to resign from the post and clear his stand within 24-hours time.

Speculations were generated that the Congress legislature may quit the party as he is unhappy with the leadership of the local party.

However, Mr. Thakor was interested to contest from Patna Lok Sabha seat, but the party has chosen ex-MP Jagdish Thakor over him.

Congress also ignored the demand of Thakor Sena for offering a ticket to a member of the group from Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat as well.

A member of Thakor Sena, Jagat Thakor said that “the Thakor Sena, during the core committee meeting here late Tuesday night, passed a resolution to sever ties with the Congress. We have not consulted Alpesh Thakor before taking this decision.”

He continued, “After the meet, we told him to make his stand clear within 24 hours. If he wants to remain with the Congress, then he has to leave the Thakor Sena. And if he wants to be with us, then he has to resign from the party and as an MLA.”

Congress was ‘ignoring’ the Thakor Sean and taking vital decisions, including candidate selection for the Lok Sabha Election, he claims.

Though Alpesh Thakor is leading the team, he was not present during the meet.

In Gujarat, after emerging as a prominent OBS leader, Mr. Thakor joins Congress ahead of 2017 Assembly Elections and won from Radhanpur seat in Patan district.

Recently, he met Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi and conveyed his displeasure against the local leadership of the party. The OBC leader continued that his supporters and community were feeling “ignore” and “cheated” as well.

Mr. Thakor further claims that some “weak leaders” were at the wheel of the party affairs in the state, apparently refers to Gujarat Congress Chief Amit Chavda.
