Hardik Patel, leader of Patidar community is likely to join Congress before the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections. Top sources in the Congress have told news source that Mr. Patel will join the party on March 12. They continued that “he is likely to contest the election from Jamnagar constituency.”

The top Congress sources further informed that “Hardik Patel, who led the agitation demanding reservation for the Patidar community in Gujarat is likely to join the Congress on March 12 in the presence of party chief Rahul Gandhi.”

Currently, the Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat is represented by Poonamben Maadam of BJP.

Mr. Patel’s joining will coincide with the CWC (Congress Working Committee) meeting in Ahmedabad, following which top Congress leaders will address a public rally.

Presently, Congress is focusing on Gujarat, PM Modi’s home state. It had offered a tough battle to the state and center ruling BJP in the previous assembly elections in the state.
