On Wednesday, ex-Union Minister CP Joshi was elected unopposed as the Speaker of 15th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.

CP Joshi is a Congress legislator from Nathdwara and was named for the post by the party’s top leader.

68-years-old Congress leader took over the chair relieving protem Speaker Gulan Chand Kataria after the House has passed the motion moved for the election by a voice vote.

In the 15th Lok Sabha, Mr. Joshi was the lawmaker from Bhilwara and had served as the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Panchayati Raj from 2009 to 2013.

Therefore, Congress lawmaker Mahesh Joshi has been appointed as the chief whip of the party and Mahendra Choudhary as the deputy chief whip.
