On Monday, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear on May 17 Centre’s petition challenging the verdict of Delhi High Court, which has inquired about cadre allotment of IPS and IAS Officers of 2018 batch.

The case was mentioned for urgent listing before a justice bench headed by Justice Indira Banerjee and Sanjiv Khanna. Advocate Tushar Mehta informed the justice-bench that the Delhi High Court has ordered the government to redo the exercise entirely.

Advocate Mehta also told the top court that those selected under cadre in 2018 batch have taken up training and were likely to join their respective cadres from May 10.

Recently, Delhi High Court has quashed the Centre’s cadre allocations of IAS and IPS officials of 2018 batch under the latest policy and asked for a fresh cadre allocation.
