On Tuesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has said that it was the most productive session since 1952.
Mr. Birla spoke before adjourning the Lower House.
The first session of the 17th Lok Sabha started on June 17 and to be concluded on July 26, but will be extended till August 7.
The 17th Lok Sabha Session had 37-sittings of total 280-hours, in which 36 Bills were passed while 33 Bills were already introduced in the Lower House, said the Lok Sabha Speaker.
He further mentioned that the Lower House sat for 75-hours during late in the evening to conduct the business.
Mr. Birla said that 1086 issues were raised by members mostly first timers during Zero Hours.
Out of 265 first time members, 229-members received the chance to speak during Zero Hour, while 42 out of 46 women MP’s also spoke during the same tenure, said the Speaker.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has also requested the Lok Sabha Speaker to adjourn the proceedings sine die as “99 percent” of the government business has been completed.
