Today, the National Investigation Agency has ordered separatist Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to appear before NIA for interrogating in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case. After the Pulwama terror attack, all the separatists are going through repression and in this situation, the Centre has assured to adopt a zero tolerance policy for all the separatists. He has arrived Delhi this morning.
During the raids in February, a letter was seized by the investigators which stated that Rs. 5,000 was given to a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative. It is likely to say that he will be questioned related to the case. In 2017 an assistant of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shahid Ul Islam was destained by the investigating officers who found accused of helping the LeT operative on Miraz Umar Farooq’s orders.
Though the NIA had ordered him to appear earlier for two times, he obeyed not the orders. In February, the government has scrapped security for separatists including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Jammu and Kashmir.
The lawyer of Umar talked to the NIA and said that he is ready to cooperate in the investigation but demanded to get questioned in Srinagar. Earlier, the NIA had questioned many other related to the terror funding case at Humhama in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In February, the NIA raided seven locations in Srinagar in connection with the terror funding case. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, JKLK chairman Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Zaffar Akbar Bhat and Naseem Geelani, son of Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani – had been raided. Laptops, e-tablets, mobile phones, pen drives, communication system, and DVRs along with letterheads of various terrorist organizations were seized during the searches.
