Delhi Police found five members of a family dead inside their house in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura area under mysterious circumstances, said Police on Wednesday. All of the dead bodies had started decomposing.

The neighbors, who were unknown about the deaths, became suspicious after getting a strong stench from the house. They immediately called the police around 11:30 am. When police reached the house, they found the doors bolted from inside, and they broke into the house.

Among the dead, there were a couple and their three children. Police said, Shambhu, the man was an e-Rickshaw driver. The 43-year-old had moved into the house in north-east Delhi’s Bhajanpura six months ago with his wife Sunita, 38. They had two sons, 14 and 12, and a 16-year-old daughter.

The highly decomposed bodies have been sent for post-mortems. Police have suspected in the early investigations; it is a murder-suicide case because of financial difficulties. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be determined as they found no suicide note at the spot.
