The next day of dismissing an alliance with AAP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Congress spokesperson Jitendra Kochar claimed that nine AAP members of legislative assembly (MLA) wanted to join the Congress and were in touch with it.
On Tuesday, after Sandip Kumar, the suspended AAP MLA visited the Delhi Congress Office and met party unit president Sheila Dikshit, the remark came.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kumar has confirmed that he had no plans to unite with Congress. Mr. Kochar claimed that there was “stampede” in Arvind Kejriwal-led party since the Congress refused to tie up with the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.
He stated to the reporters, “There is a stampede in AAP since its efforts of the alliance have been rejected by the Congress. Around 9 sitting AAP MLAs are in touch with us and want to join the Congress. They have talked to Sheila Dikshit and let us see when do they join the party.”
The AAP party did not agree to comment on the claims. According to Mr. Kumar, he went with a delegation of the Valmiki community to meet Sheila Dikshit to discuss their demand for political representation.
“I did not go there to join the Congress. The Valmiki community wanted me to accompany them to meet Dikshit,” he added. He also claimed though he has not joined the BSP party officially he has been actively working for the party.
