On Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanantullah Khan has created a wave by saying that the party would only extend its support to Congress, if the next Prime Minister came from the grand old party, at a function in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

During an event arranged by Delhi Waqf Board, Mr. Khan is also the chairman of the board, has urged the Imams of the city mosques to support AAP and said that “People are saying they will vote for the Congress because the next prime minister will be from that party.”

“If that is indeed so, we will also extend support to the Congress, but in Delhi, only the AAP can defeat the BJP, not the Congress,” added Mr. Khan.

He continued that “Do not waste your vote. The votes will be wasted if given to the Congress. Vote for the AAP if you want to defeat the BJP.”

Last week, Delhi Convenor of AAP, Gopal Rai had said that the party would not for an alliance in the forthcoming 2019 Lok Sabha Elections with Congress, accused the grand old party of being “arrogant”.

Mr. Rai continued that the AAP would separately field candidates on all the Parliamentary Constituencies of Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana.
