Today, a man has thrown chilli powder at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside his office at the secretariat, provoked outrage from his party. The chilli powder has lashed out at the police for a “serious security lapse”. The attacker with chilli powder was identified as Anil Kumar. The convict has been taken into custody, reports an official.
After finishing up the scheduled meetings, CM Kejriwal was on his way to launch, when the attack took place outside the CM’s officer on the third floor, said AAP Lawmaker Alka Lamba.
Mr. Kumar has called out to the CM, took out a letter along with the chilli powder from his pocket and smartly threw it at him. However, the chilli powder did not go inside the eyes of CM Kejriwal as he wears glasses. But the glasses fell down and immediately broken as he tried to duck, said Ms. Lamba.
Ms. Lamba has alleged Delhi Police, which is monitored by the BJP-led central government, of ‘completely failing’ to ensure the safety of the state’s Chief Minister.
She continued that “the Delhi Police has repeatedly failed to stop anti-social elements from entering the secretariat. They are doing this in the directions of the BJP that rules the center.”
Calls it a dangerous attack, CM Kejriwal’s AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) accused the BJP and believes them to send out the word that whoever targets the CM or AAP would be protected.
AAP spokesman Raghav Chadha said that he was behind the Delhi CM when the attack took place all of a certain.
However, BJP has condemned the incident.
Delhi’s BJP President Manoj Tiwari said that “I strongly condemn it. This should not be tolerated or justified. The matter should be investigated.”
50-years old CM Kejriwal has in the past been attacked with slippers, ink and slapped while he was campaigning for the elections.
