Today, former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy was found dead at his home in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district. His family members reported that the death was unnatural and has lodged a complaint with Pulivendula Police, has expressed doubts regarding the nature of his death as blood clots were found in the bathroom and bedroom. He was the younger brother of ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The 68-year-old YS Vivekananda Reddy is survived by a wife and a daughter.
YS Vivekananda Reddy’s nephew and ex-Lawmaker Y S Avinash Reddy accused that it was not a natural death and asked for a detail investigation.
He said, “There were two injuries on his head, one each on the front and the back. So, a thorough probe is required to establish the cause of death. There could possibly be a conspiracy angle as well that needs to be probed.”
A case was registered under unnatural death and his dead body was moved to Pulivendula government hospital for postmortem, reports a local police officer.
YSR Congress Chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy with his mother Vijayamma has immediately rushed to Pulivendula government hospital from Hyderabad overhearing the news.
He was seen at Lotus Pond residence 2-days ago in Hyderabad, as he was campaigning for YSRC in Pulivendula constituency.
On Thursday night, he was alone at his home in Pulivendula.
Krishna Reddy said, “There was no response when I went to his house this morning. I called his wife in Hyderabad over the phone and she asked me not to disturb him. Later, the cook and other household staff reached the house but they too did not get any response. I then went in through a side door and found Vivekananda’s body in the bathroom, with blood clots in the bedroom and the bathroom.”
Over the death news of YS Vivekananda Reddy, YSRC leader Vijayasai Reddy has expressed shock. The leader said in a message that “He was such a humble person who always engaged himself in public service. It is a huge loss to the YSRC and also the state.”
YS Vivekananda Reddy was known as a down-to-earth person, was elected in 1989 and 1994, as a lawmaker from his hometown Pulivendula in Kadapa district.
He was elected from Kadapa Constituency to the Lok Sabha in 1999 and 2004, and in 2009 from Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. Under N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he had also served as the Agriculture Minister in the then united Andhra Pradesh.
Vivekananda Reddy had a difference in opinions with his nephew, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, after they quit the Congress and has established the YSR Congress, and opted to stay back in the parent party.
He even lost the by-election in 2011 to Vijayamma, his sister-in-law. After the family differences were sorted, YS Vivekananda Reddy joined the YSRC.
