Fuel costs came down for the thirteenth day, petrol now at Rs. 76.58 per litre in Delhi

The price of petrol is Rs. 76.58 per litre, and diesel Rs. 67.95 per litre now in Delhi. Fuel costs have come down marginally every day since May 30, ranging between 1 paise per litre, to 21-22 paise per litre after a sixteen-day long upward rally.

Petrol and diesel cost have come down by 19-21 paise per litre and 15-16 paise per litre respectively in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai on Monday.

The price of petrol is Rs. 76.58 per litre, and diesel Rs. 67.95 per litre now in Delhi. Fuel costs have come down marginally every day since May 30, ranging between 1 paise per litre, to 21-22 paise per litre after a sixteen-day long upward rally.

Apart from Delhi, reconsidered petrol costs in other metro cities are – Rs. 79.25 per litre in Mumbai and Rs. 79.48 per litre in Chennai.

Diesel, on the other hand, was being sold at Rs. 70.50 per litre in Kolkata, Rs. 72.35 per litre in Mumbai and Rs. 71.73 in Chennai.

The central government imposes a duty of Rs. 19.48 per litre of petrol and Rs. 15.33 per litre on diesel, while states collect sales tax and VAT ranging from twenty-six percent to over forty-seven percent (Mumbai) of the fuel cost that consumers pay.

Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had asked state governments not to obtain jackpot from increasing crude oil prices, and tax fuel within a “reasonable and responsible band.”
