A biopic on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PM Narendra Modi starring Vivek Oberoi, which was scheduled to be released today but was postponed amid a raging row, is yet to be ‘certified’ and is going through the process of scrutinization, said the censor board chief. The opposition has raised question against the timing of the movie, reported its a violation of the election code.
The Censor board chief Prasoon Joshi’s statement reads, “Since there are a lot of queries around the certification of the film, (I) would like to give a clear picture: the film is going through the due process of examination and certification according to the requisite guidelines and is yet to be certified as the process is not complete at this point.”
On Thursday, the producer of PM Narendra Modi informed that its release has been indefinitely postponed. Soon after the top court has fixed April 8 as the date for further hearing a Congress leader’s plea against the movie launch at this crucial juncture before the election. Sandip Singh tweets, “This is to confirm that our film ‘PM Narendra Modi’ is not releasing on 5th April. Will update soon.”
Earlier, Bombay and Madhya Pradesh High Court had both rejected to stay the movie’s release.
Vivek Oberoi is playing the main role of Narendra Modi in the biopic, recently took a potshot at Congress and its leaders were scared of Chowkidar’s danda. However, he denied that the movie release may violate the code of conduct for the election that was scheduled to start from April 11, by glorifying the Prime Minister.
In reply to Vivek’s taunt, a Congress spokesman was quoted saying, “It is a bogus film of a flop hero, a flop producer and is made on a flop person who has proved to be a zero.”
Congress has also registered a complaint against PM Narendra Modi with the Election Commission, reportedly it releases close to the April-May Election violates the model code of conduct. Last week, the Bollywood appeared before the election panel in response to notice is served.
