On Tuesday, a customer has lodged a complaint about canceling his order placed on Zomato as the designated rider was a “non-Hindu”. The food delivery platform, Zomato has replied to his complaint is winning the social media. 

Amit Shukla tweets, “Just cancelled an order on @ZomatoIN,” adding that “they allocated a non- Hindu rider for my food they said they can’t change rider and can’t refund on cancellation.”

In a number of Twitter post, Mr. Shukla, who is a resident of Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, also shared screenshot of his conversation with the Customer Care of Zomato, claims to take up the issue with court. 

Mr. Shulka wrote on Twitter: “Just cancelled an order on @ZomatoIN they allocated a non-Hindu rider for my food they said they can’t change rider and can’t refund on cancellation I said you can’t force me to take a delivery I don’t want don’t refund just cancel.”

Later in the day, the food delivery app has also shared a longer statement.

The founder of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal has echoed his company’s stand , with the firm message. Mr. Goyal tweets, “We are proud of the idea of India – and the diversity of our esteemed customers and partners. We aren’t sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values.”

The reply of Zomato was widely praised on social media sites for “rejecting bigotry and hate.”

National Conference Leader Omar Abdullah tweeted in support of the food delivery platform.

RPG Group’s Chairman Harsh Goenka has shared a screenshot of the food delivery app’s reply and said, “If you ask me who I am, I will say that I am an Indian, a son,a father, a businessman, a Hindu…my being Hindu is only one aspect of my identity.”
