On Wednesday, the Punjab State Women Commission has asked to take necessary action against Rapper Honey Singh, popular as Yo Yo Honey Singh, accused using ‘vulgar’ lyrics against women in his latest song.

Manisha Gulati, the chairperson of the women panel, has written a letter to the Home Ministry of Punjab, Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch), and Punjab Director General of Police, urges for appropriate action taken against Mr. Singh.

Ms. Gulati was quoted saying, “We have asked the police to register an FIR against the singer for using vulgar lyrics against women in his song ‘Makhna’.”

It has further asked the state police to submit a status report in the issue by July 12, said Ms. Gulati.

She also wants that his latest song ‘Makhna’ with objectionable and vulgar lyrics against women should be immediately banned in Punjab.
