On Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police have advised candidates contesting in forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections not to conduct any roadshows during the election campaign and move around only after the clearance from district authorities, reports sources.
The advisory asked the candidates of Lok Sabha to move around in various districts only after informing in advance the Senior Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate.
A source further informed, “The venue for a public rally in the district must also be chosen after consultation with the DM and the SSP concerned,” adding in a detailed, written advisory has been issued to all contestant and their political parties’ head in Jammu and Kashmir.
The advisory also makes it’s clear that no roadside shows are permitted due to the existing security situation. However, public rallies are allowed at designated places after seeking venue clearance from district authorities.
Sources claim that the advisory has been issued due to threats, which perception in several districts.
“The precautions are uniform although the actual threat perception on the ground varies from district to district and even from place to place in the same district,” added the source.
