Today, the Election Commission (EC) was sent 39 objections from Congress over the “glitches” in the functioning of EVM in some booths in six Lok Sabha seats of Maharashtra during the election process, the party said.
According to the state Congress, the party has made 12 complaints to the Election Commission through email. They have also pointed out the glitches in the electronic voting machines (EVMs) at some booths in Nagpur. Besides these, in Chandpur and Ramtek there recorded problems eight and six respectively.
The Congress has also sent four complaints each of such complications in Yavatmal-Washim and Gadchiroli-Chimur seats, the statement added.
On Thursday, during the first phase of Lok Sabha polling, besides these six constituencies election also had in Bhandara-Gondiya seat in Vidarbha region.
The party wrote a separate letter to the chief election officer of the state about the improper functioning of EVM at a booth in Nagpur constituency. “You are requested to take cognizance of the matter and direct the returning officer to look into the matter immediately and take corrective steps,” state Congress legal cell’s vice chairman Vijay Pandey said in the letter.
