IAF Pilot Died in a Microlight Aircraft Crash in Punjab’s Patiala - TNBCLive

On Monday, a microlight aircraft crashed in the Army cantonment area, killing an Indian Air Force pilot. The incident also made injured a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet. A Pipistrel Virus SW 80 trainer aircraft crashed soon after taking off from the Patiala Aviation Club airport. 

An official spokesperson informed, the Wing Commander G S Cheema lost his life in the crash which happened around 11:30 am. He further stated that the IAF has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident. 

An NCC cadet too was also injured in the crash of the two-seater aircraft. The injured cadet was identified as Vipin Kumar Yadav of Mohindra College, Patiala. The spokesperson said that Wing Commander Cheema was on deputation at an NCC unit here. The IAF has ordered to start a probe in the case to find the exact cause of the accident.
