In an official statement, on Sunday it was said that Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy urged Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to arrange the biennial premier aerospace event Aero India only in Bengaluru.
After the meeting, in a statement, it was mentioned that “The Chief Minister has requested Ms. Sitharaman to hold the Aero India air show in Bengaluru only just like the previous 11 editions organized over the last 22 years.”
On Tuesday, while rehearsing for the flying display, two Surys Kiran jets collided in the air and crashed which caused the death of an IAF pilot and gutted about 300 cars. The matter was also discussed in the meeting. According to the sources, IAF and defense ministry officials, state officials and city police all were present there.
The review meeting of the air show by HD Kumaraswamy and Defense Minister concluded on Sunday evening.
Karnataka Chief Minister thanked Ms. Sitharaman for holding the 12th edition of the 5-day international expo in Bengaluru. Over one lakh people flocked to the venue and the CM stated that the visitors have been delighted to witness a spectacular display of over 50 aircraft, including fighters at the Air Force’s Yelahanka base.
A personal request was made by the CM since Ms. Sitharaman did not declare the dates for the 2021 show at the inaugural event on Wednesday.
