Reducing your risk for cancer may be easier than you think. Sometimes it requires little more than a few lifestyle changes to make all the difference in the world.

Cancer is considered to be one of the most dreadful and fearful diseases in India.  In a research done by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), it was seen that almost 1300 Indians die every day due to cancer.

Here are six ways which you can include in your lifestyles and can prevent the risk of cancer.

1.Healthy Diet

We are what we eat so nothing can be helpful in your life to add healthy food and diets in your life. Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet can help to a great extent to stay healthy.

A well-balanced diet is advantageous for many reasons. Fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants which help to repair the damaged cells. Non-starchy vegetables, such as broccoli, spinach, and beans, may help protect against stomach and esophageal cancer. Eating oranges, berries, peas, bell peppers, dark leafy greens and other foods high in vitamin C may also protect against cancer.

2. Exercise

Up to one hour of moderate activity daily or 30 minutes of vigorous activity is recommended to cut your cancer risk. Exercise is important to reduce the risk of many cancers. The American Institute for Cancer Research currently recommends that everyone exercise for at least 30 minutes per day. Studies suggest that even something as simple as gardening twice a week is associated with a lower risk of developing lung cancer.

3. Avoid Smoking

Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, responsible for 80 to 90 percent of lung cancers. Cigar smoking is equally problematic and there’s even increasing evidence that hookah smoking may be dangerous as well. Secondhand smoke is responsible for roughly 3000 cases of lung cancer each year in the United States alone. Living with a smoker increases your chance of developing lung cancer by 20 to 30 percent.

4. Limited Alchohol Intake

Another important step in lung cancer prevention may include limiting your intake of certain types of alcoholic beverages. For men, the heavy consumption of beer and hard liquor is associated with an elevated risk of developing lung cancer. In contrast, a moderate intake of wine in men was linked with a lower risk of developing the disease.

5.Drink Green Tea

Green tea has been shown to prevent some of the damage to cells caused by smoking, and people who consume more green tea appear to have a lower risk of lung cancer. The major polyphenols in green tea are flavonoids, the most active of which are catechins and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which function as powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants are known to protect the body against disease and are an important part of a healthy diet.
