On Thursday, a Sukhoi 30 fighter jet of Indian Air Force crashed in a paddy field in Assam, near Tezpur, reports a Defence spokesman.
Both pilots of the aircraft safely ejected and have been rescued, said Lt. Col Harsh Wardhan Pande.
The Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet went on a routine training mission when it crashed in the paddy field in Assam’s Milanpur regions and burst into smoke at 8:30 PM, said the spokesman.
Luckily, the unexpected crash caused no damage to public property.
Lt. Pande continued that local men rushed two rescue the pilots and lifted them to Army Base Hospital in Tezpur.
Fire engines were immediately called on the spot to bring down the rising flames under control, said the Fire Department officials.
A Court of Inquiry has been directed to ascertain the cause of the accident, official sources said in Delhi.
