On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet has given its approval to the proposal for leasing out three major airports- Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mangaluru – of the AAI (Airports Authority of India) through Public-Private Partnership (PPP), reports an official spokesman.

In the first half of this year, Adani Groups had won the proposal to operate three main airports for tenure of around 50-years.  

It had also won the proposal to operate Guwahati, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram airports, which is owned by the AAI.

The winner was chosen by AAI on the basis of the “per-passenger fee” offered by the bidders.   

Principal Spokesperson of the Indian Government Sitanshu Kar tweets: “Cabinet approves proposal for leasing out of three airports viz. #Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangaluru of Airports Authority of India through Public Private Partnership.”
