On Monday, a senior official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) informed that the Adani group has won the bid to operate five out of six airports which were planned for privatization by the government.
The official added that the Adani group were the highest bidder for the Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru and Jaipur airports the five airports. He also said that the bid of the Guwahati airport will be available soon.
The winner was decided by the AAI on the basis of “monthly per-passenger fee”. The bids put by the Adani group were “very aggressive” as compared to other bidders.

10 companies offered a total of 32 bids to operate the six airports which are currently under the management of AAI.
The government introduced in November last year, an offer for managing to sic AAI-run airports on public-private(PPP) partnership basis.
Ahmedabad and Jaipur both the airports received seven bids each while Lucknow and Guwahati received six bids each. Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram received three bids each.
