India’s largest telecom services provider Bharti Airtel has announced a long-term partnership with Hotstar to give its content portfolio a boost. With this deal, Hotstar is expecting to increase its presence in India by reaching out to Airtel’s established customer base.
Hotstar is India’s largest streaming platform to offer free as well as premium services. It provides content for over 1,00,000 hours that includes movies, drama and all the important international sports events. For Airtel TV users, the content will include shows and movies, which will be available in regional languages like Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil as well.
As a promotional offer, Airtel is also offering its postpaid and prepaid customers content worth 1,00,000 hours free of cost till June 2018. All the users need to do is to download the latest version of the app.
Besides entering into deals with Eros Now, SonyLIV and HOOQ to expand its content base, Bharti Airtel has also signed a deal with Amazon Prime earlier this year after which it has gained access to approximately 10,000 movies from India and abroad and 350+ Live TV channels.
Talking about the deal, the CEO of Wynk, Sameera Batra said the partnership will help the company in building a premium-class digital content ecosystem. The latest version of the Airtel TV app has received a favourable response and the company will keep introducing exciting content along with in-app innovations for its customers, he added.
The two companies are very excited about this partnership, said Ajit Mohan, CEO, Hotstar. Airtel’s large footprints in India combined with the vast content library of Hotstar can easily cater to various age groups and interests, he added.
